The Self-Care Chronicle

Episode 05: Dr. Ana Kodžić

Dr. Kodzic has had over a decade of experience with severe mental illness. Presently, a forensic evaluator, she authors court reports, performs risk assessments, and frequently testifies in court as an expert witness. Previously, she has worked as a treating psychologist, which has offered her the opportunity to become trained in trauma informed care, including in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has also worked in community clinics, with individuals who struggle with addiction. There she was trained in Motivational Interviewing, as well as medication-assisted recovery therapies. She had the privilege of being part of a training program, as the clinical director, and supervised bright, up-and-coming therapists of master’s and doctorate level degrees. Her schooling and training in the San Francisco Bay Area has afforded the opportunity for advocacy on many levels; she was trained in providing LGBTQIA treatment, and finished her degree with an emphasis on multiculturalism. Lastly, her own cross-cultural background has made her curious about identity development and acculturation, and she has had the fortune of providing therapies bilingually. When not at work, she enjoys taking hikes with dog, Sir Drake, or attending jazz festivals with her New-Orleans native husband.
